Saima Jahangir
Head of Year 10
Hello, my name is Saima Jahangir, I was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom and I am delighted to enter my fourth year here as the Food Technology Teacher and my first year as Head of Year 10 at Gems Wellington School, Qatar. I feel very proud to be a part of and to work alongside such a wonderful, multicultural community of students, parents, and staff.
My commitment and enthusiasm for the holistic growth and well-being of every child is at the heart of my reason for teaching. I feel strongly about the need for students to feel safe and encouraged to not only take responsibility for their high standards of learning and behavior but to also have an opportunity to lead, enthuse, and collaborate as they transition into young adults.
Having completed a BA Hons in Design at Nottingham Trent University, UK, and pursuing a career within the professional industry I decided to embark on a journey back into education and completing my PGCE in Secondary Education of Design and Technology.
With 9 years of teaching experience in UK schools, and serving as curriculum lead and second in the department of DT, I have worked as a GCSE Examiner for the UK Board of AQA which adds valuable insight to provide students on how to answer exam questions, maximizing the marks they receive. In addition, to enhance my professional growth I have also recently completed my National Professional Qualifications course on leading behavior and culture (NPQLBC).
