Melissa Jones

Melissa Jones is Assistant Headteacher for Secondary Student Achievement at GEMS Wellington School, Qatar. With extensive experience in secondary education across the UK and the Middle East, she is passionate about securing outstanding outcomes for pupils through high-quality teaching, evidence-informed practice and a culture of ambition.

Melissa believes that every pupil should be challenged to achieve their personal best. Her approach combines high expectations, strong relationships and a relentless focus on progress, ensuring that pupils are supported to excel academically while developing the confidence and resilience to succeed beyond the classroom.

Throughout her career, Melissa has held a range of leadership roles, including Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Head of House, Trust Lead and Local Authority Network Lead for Languages. She has a proven track record of driving exceptional outcomes, significantly improving attainment and progress in Modern Foreign Languages, increasing pupil participation at GCSE and developing enriching opportunities beyond the classroom through university visits and international educational experiences.

Melissa holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Manchester Metropolitan University, a PGCE in French, a degree in French from the University of Reading and an LLB in Law with Criminology from the University of Manchester. She has completed both the NPQLTD and NPQSL, is a Chartered Linguist with the Chartered Institute of Linguists and serves as an examiner for AQA GCSE French.
