Assistant Headteacher - Head of Sixth Form
Gemma Relph is Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form at GEMS Wellington School, Qatar. With almost twenty years of experience in education across the UK and Qatar, she is passionate about helping young people achieve their academic ambitions while developing the confidence, resilience and independence needed to thrive beyond school.
Gemma believes that Sixth Form should be a transformative stage in a pupil's educational journey. Her approach combines academic challenge, personalised guidance and exceptional pastoral care, ensuring that every pupil is empowered to make informed decisions about their future and achieve their full potential.
Throughout her career, Gemma has held a range of teaching and leadership positions, including Head of Department, Head of Year and senior leadership responsibilities within high-performing schools in the UK. Since joining GEMS Wellington School, Qatar in 2020, she has led the Sixth Form, supporting pupils as they progress to leading universities and destinations across the world while fostering a culture of ambition, wellbeing and personal growth.
Gemma holds a BA (Hons) in Physical Education with Qualified Teacher Status from the University of Brighton. She has completed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), is currently undertaking the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), and holds qualifications in safeguarding, coaching, counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy.
