Deputy Headteacher (Student Culture and Experience)

Alana Brereton is Whole School Deputy Headteacher for Student Culture and Experience at GEMS Wellington School, Qatar, bringing more than seventeen years of teaching experience across the UK and Qatar, alongside over a decade of senior leadership experience.

Alana is committed to creating school environments where every pupil feels safe, supported and valued. She believes that outstanding schools are built upon a culture of respect, responsibility and belonging, enabling young people to develop the confidence, wellbeing and character needed to fulfil their potential.

Since joining WSQ, Alana has played a pivotal role in shaping the culture, ethos and wellbeing of the school. As Assistant Headteacher, she has led initiatives that support pupil wellbeing, inclusion and personal development, helping to ensure that every pupil feels connected to the school community and able to thrive. Prior to joining WSQ, she held senior leadership positions in the UK, including Headteacher and Vice

Principal roles, bringing extensive whole-school leadership expertise to her work.

Alana holds the NPQH, the National Award for SEN Coordination, specialist qualifications in dyslexia, a PGCE and a BA in English and History. She is also a trained Designated Safeguarding Lead, reflecting her commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing at the heart of school life.
