Year 8 student triumphs in STEM challenge
Melvin Shibu, a Year-8 student at GEMS Wellington School Qatar, had always been passionate about Maths and Science, spending countless hours studying and practising to master these subjects. So, when the Education Perfect BSME Maths and Science Challenge 2023 came around, he knew that this was the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his skills.
Over the course of three days, 5,000 students from across the Middle East participated in the challenge, answering thousands of questions and accumulating points in the hopes of winning the coveted top prize. Melvin was determined to come out on top and put all his knowledge and skills to the test.
Facing stiff competition, Melvin remained focused and determined, answering question after question with lightning-fast speed and accuracy. He poured all his heart and soul into the competition, and it paid off in the end.
On the final day of the competition, the results were announced, and Melvin was declared the winner of the Education Perfect BSME Maths and Science Challenge 2023. In addition, GEMS Wellington School – Qatar students have answered an incredible 88,627 questions and accumulated an astonishing 62,540 points, making them the top scorers in the competition.
Melvin was overjoyed at his and his peers’ achievements. His classmates Ouais and Mohamed Hashim also achieved the elite award by scoring more than 3,000 points. Muhammad Shahzain, Rokaya Mohamed Amro, Jury Al Tamimi, Maya Raaj Sherbaz and Aashna Gupta, from the same class, received the emerald award for scoring more than 2,000 points.
The school was proud of its students, who had collectively achieved 10th place globally, 3rd overall in Qatar, 10th overall in Maths, and 9th overall in Science. The students had put in tremendous effort and dedication into the competition, and their hard work had paid off.
As the Education Perfect BSME Maths and Science Challenge 2023 came to a close, the students basked in the glory of their achievements, knowing that they had proven their mettle in one of the most challenging competitions in the Middle East. They had shown that with hard work, dedication, and passion, anything was possible.
